7digital API Used to Power PURE’s New FlowSongs Service
7digital is partnering with PURE, the world’s leading manufacturer of broadcast and internet-connected digital radios, for the launch of FlowSongs, the world’s first tag, buy, stream and download music service direct from the radio.
A mash up of 7digital’s Commercial API with Shazam’s, FlowSongs is the first of a range of services coming to PURE’s internet-connected digital radios, FlowSongs allows users to tag, buy and stream songs from their radio at the touch of a button without having to switch on a computer. Songs can later be downloaded to a PC or Mac and added to the user’s MP3 collection.
Ben Drury, CEO of 7digital, comments: “We’re excited to be partnering with one of the UK’s true technology innovators in consumer electronics and chipset IP to bring a unique cloud music service to market. FlowSongs is another fantastic example of what can be achieved using 7digital’s flexible, open API platform allowing radio listeners to discover and buy new music. ”
7digital’s open API provides partners with the flexibility to explore and develop not only new digital music services, but also across all digital media, including video, documents and ebooks. 7digital partnerships include some of the leading pioneers in the digital entertainment space, including Spotify, Last.fm, Songbird and Winamp to provide integrated purchasing solutions. Drury said ‘7digital is in a unique position within the emerging digital marketplace. Our digital entertainment ecosystem allows partners to experiment with new digital distribution and purchasing models, across multiple platforms and devices, ranging from download stores to streaming services, PC-based services to mobile and other connected devices”.
